How Paramount Wellness Retreat of
Connecticut Uses Dual Diagnosis to treat
Drug & Alcohol Addiction

Dual Diagnosis (also known as a co-occurring disorder) is the concurrence of a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder in an individual.

Mental illness and addiction are often closely linked because individuals with mental health conditions may turn to substance use as a form of self-medication. Substance use can temporarily alleviate symptoms of mental illness but ultimately leads to negative consequences and makes the underlying condition worse. Additionally, substance use can also cause or worsen mental health problems. It is important to address both mental illness and addiction in a comprehensive and integrated manner for effective treatment and recovery.

Residents at Paramount Wellness Retreat undergo thorough assessments and evaluations. Our team will get to the root of the problems and treat any co-occurring disorders with an individualized treatment plan for both conditions.

Treatments include:

Medication management
for co-occurring mental
health conditions

Holistic & evidence-based
therapies, such as mindfulness,
yoga, and meditation

Nutritional counseling
& physical wellness for
a healthy lifestyle

A post-visit plan to ensure a
successful transition to sobriety
and mental wellness

At Paramount Wellness Retreat of Connecticut, we believe in empowering you to take control of your life and overcome the challenges of dual diagnosis. Our goal is to help you achieve long-term recovery and a fulfilling life in sobriety.
